Social Media, the Ugly Truth, and You

Let’s face it, we’ve all done it!

Sometimes we get so caught up on what’s being posted on social media; we lose sight of our own goals and achievements observing someone else’s. Scrolling through your timeline can be both inspiring and depressing. In most cases, it poses as a distraction from what YOU could be doing.

If it makes you feel better, I’ll be the first to tell you that social media shares an piece of someone’s life or status, NOT their reality. The reality is, we ALL have obstacles and success stories to tell. The only issue is, not all users are transparent which causes their followers to believe that their life is all cupcakes and rainbows. The truth is, it’s more like a roller-coaster with unexpected twist and turns.

I never understood why most people leave the struggle out of success. Hurdles are honestly my favorite part of the process because I’m always up for a life challenge. To me it molds character and establishes perseverance. Each time I was told “NO” I went even harder for a “YES!”
Don’t get distracted with social media because people aren’t always who they “POST” to be. Sometimes you have to unplug for a while to regroup and see the bigger picture. The bigger picture is YOU and your ability to meet your own goals without being distracted by someone else’s success.

Here are a few tips to help you stay focused on YOUR goal

Never use someone else’s ruler to measure your success. Go and grow at your own pace; when you create your own lane there’s no traffic or reason to rush!
Read and research about your craft. Becoming more knowledgeable in your field gives you a creative advantage over those who aren’t.
Strategize your business plan. However don’t get so caught up in preparation that you forget to execute.
Balance, manage and structurally prioritize the most important tasks.
Unplug for a while! It willl be there once you recharge.
Network your way up. Attend events and meet other professionals. Exchanging numbers, emails, and social media information is a great way to stay connected and establish business relationships, as well as keep your prospects up to date on your current/future endeavors.
TAKE THE RISK or lose the chance! Someone took the situation you’re complaining about and won with it.
Be happy for others. Envy slays itself by its own arrows

Stay blessed,

Danielle
