The Balancing Act

As you all may know, I am a SLAY-at-home mom, wife, and entrepreneur. It is very important for me to prioritize caring for my family and my own personal needs. Lately a lot of people have been asking me how I balance my family and career.  I have learned that giving everyone a little piece of me while finding time for myself is indeed challenging but possible when I prioritize my daily activities. Keep in mind that life is a balancing act and when you are passionate about the people, places, and things that bring you joy, you will always find time for them.

Balance is more of a harmony than a headache. Find your rhythm and have fun while discovering new ways to make things work together. Discipline yourself to adapt to change because finding a balance requires flexibility. It is a process because nothing ever stays the same. As you evolve, so will your responsibilities.
We all know that a well-balanced life brings a healthy, productive and prosperous YOU! Always be sure to eat well and rest properly to reduce stress levels. Take time out your day to decompress. Whether it is driving home from work or relaxing at home, try cutting out the noise for a few moments. This really helps me especially when I have had a long day.
True enough some days will be better than others but that is the beauty of balance! There is no right or wrong way to find a balance however, there are a few steps you can take to jumpstart your change!

1.)    Prioritize: Make a list of the MOST important things you need to complete. Avoid cramming things that can wait into your daily tasks. This will help you avoid feeling over whelmed and over-worked.

2.)    Take time out for yourself: Go outside and smell the roses. Spend some time alone exercising or just simply meditating. This will allow you to regroup from a long day or prepare for a busy week ahead.

3.)    Avoid Negativity: Surround yourself with positive energy. Do not allow the actions of others to poison your spirit or kill your momentum to succeed. Stay focused because you cannot afford to be distracted!

4.)    Expect Uncertainty:  Remember nothing ever stays the same. Some things may require your immediate attention that was not a part of your plans for the day. Roll with the punches!

5.)    Delegate Tasks: They say that if you want something done right do it yourself. However, delegating tasks to others can always help lift a load off your shoulders. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together!

6.)    Just say NO: No is actually a complete sentence. Saying NO to things you do not have time for will give you the ability to say yes to those things that align with your balancing act.

7.)    Find Support: Take time to find and connect with a supportive group of family, friends, and professionals. You are not alone.

8.)    Recharge: Give yourself a break. If you do not finish something put it on the to-do list for the next day. Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few moments including YOU!

9.)    Be Organized: Stick to the script and stay structured. Plan ahead and do not allow last minute plans of others to become your priority. Always refer to your list of priorities and adhere to them.

10.)  Celebrate your progress: Take time to evaluate and celebrate the progress you have made. Always remember to celebrate every victory, big or small. Small changes usually have the biggest impact on one’s life.

Stay Blessed,
Danielle
